Summer Sessions Hiring 2020 - Memo #1 to campus

(Editors note: the following was an email to department managers and colleagues from Moon Jang-Shinn, CAO, Summer Sessions, Study Abroad & Lifelong Learning (SSALL) on 2/24/20.)

Dear Department Managers and Coleagues,

We have begun working on 2020 Summer Sessions Hiring and I am writing today to share details about this year's processes as we know you are anxious to hear more. While we continue to fine-tune these processes and make changes to the eHire system for this year’s hiring, there are details we know today and wanted to share them with you.

You will continue to use the eHire system to submit hiring requests and eHire will look different this year as the system is undergoing a redesign. We anticipate that there will be little or no changes in the type of information collected for each hire and the overall workflow; we believe the redesign is more intuitive and easy to track the status of your hiring requests. We hope to share eHire details with you in the next week or two. At that time, you will have the ability to begin entering your new hire requests. (If you submitted requests in the past, your access is still active. If this is your first time - contact us at summer_hr@berkeley.edu and we'll set you up.

It’s also important to know that the UCPath system will be unavailable for periods in May 2020 to convert our fellow UC San Diego and UC San Francisco campus’ to UCPath. While they have not yet shared those specific (lockout) dates, in order to mitigate delays in processing 2020 requests, we will see earlier than usual Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) submission deadlines overall; likely moved one month earlier than in previous years.

To help you answer questions for your new Summer Session hires, review the following tabel with important dates and deadlines with them (this will help prepare you as well):

Please share this information with any staff processing summer hire requests and those scheduled to teach this summer. Let us know if you have any additional questions and look for a follow-up email soon with additional information.
