Onboarding activities for new Berkeley employees are now completed virtually using a series of DocuSign packets. It is important that you ensure the new employee completes the DocuSign packet ASAP and they complete their onboarding work to verify their work authorization documents (e.g., Form I-9, state oath, etc.). If the required new hire request and completed documents are not submitted on-time (based on the published schedules), the employee is not considered fully hired and should not begin work.

DocuSign and Individual Onboarding/Work Authorization Verification Appointment steps:

  1. Inform your new hire of the importance of completing their DocuSign packet ASAP AND steps to physically verify their I-9 (if required to do so). They must also present original documents to verify their work eligibility to the appointment. Completion of both the DocuSign packet and any additional background checks, etc. drives the new hire process: NO ONBOARDING = NO EMPLOYEE ID, NO SYSTEMS ACCESS, NO PAY.
  2. New hires receive a separate email from their regional onboarding team with information they need to complete, how the DocuSign packets work, etc. New hires should also be aware and will receive an email invite to complete the Form I-9 via Tracker.
  3. Confirm with the new hire that they have completed all required DocuSign packet(s) and background checks (if applicable) before they start work
